Daily Worship


4.30 a.m. The doors open

The formal worship of Sri Ramakrishna takes place daily. It is carried out by designated monks of the Order.

The temple opens in the morning at 4.30 a.m. A formal Arati called Mangal Arati is conducted with lamps at 5.00 a.m.


 


7.30 to 11.30 a.m. Formal Worship

At 7.30 a.m. the main formal worship of the Deity is performed.

The sanctum sanctorum or inner shrine (garbha mandira) is closed at 11.30 a.m. for food offering to Sri Ramakrishna. It is opened again at 12.05 p.m. for about five minutes.


Evening Arati

The Arati (evening vespers) begins at the time of sunset. At this time, usually many devotees gather, and join in the singing of the Arati. After the Arati, you can join the monks and other devotees in the singing the bhajans and religious songs.  


Exact timings for all worship vary slightly according to seasons and the timing of the sunset.

Before the end of the day, the shrine is closed for the food-offering at 8.30 p.m. and opened again for about five minutes at 9.00 p.m.
