The Vedanta Kesari (literally meaning, Lion of Vedanta) is a spiritual and cultural monthly in English published from Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai. The journal is in its 98th year of circulation (as of 2012)and contains articles on Indian spiritual traditions and scriptures, mainly focusing on Vedanta as expounded by Swami Vivekananda. Most articles published in the journal are originally written for the journal, though a few transcriptions of the lectures and speeches are also published. Besides having articles based on the teachings and incidents in the lives of the Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda – on Vedanta, the journal also covers Indian culture and philosophy, self-improvement, the ideal of service and Simhavalokanam (articles from the Archives of The Vedanta Kesari). The book review section also carries reviews of latest books published in the areas mentioned above. The news section details the service activities carried out by world-wide centres of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission.
